ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is investigating the death of Aretha Swillie, 46, of Conway, which occurred on October 8, 2023, on U.S. Highway 64 in Conway. Christopher Swillie, 42, of Conway was charged with DWI (drugs) and second-degree battery, following the recommendation of the Faulkner County prosecutor.
At approximately 1 p.m., witnesses say Christopher Swillie was driving recklessly and erratically on Highway 64 East near Hogan Lane when he struck another passenger vehicle, which lost control, entered the westbound traffic lane and collided with a third passenger vehicle.
During the wreck, Aretha Swillie exited the truck onto the roadway and was killed. Christopher Swillie continued travelling eastbound, driving erratically and leaving the roadway numerous times.
Christopher Swillie was transported to Conway Regional Medical Center where he was treated with non-life threatening injuries, released and transported to the Faulkner County Detention Center. Three additional people were transported to Conway Regional Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
ASP’s Highway Patrol Division requested a CID investigation, which is ongoing. Agents will submit a criminal case file to the Faulkner County prosecuting attorney upon completion of their investigation.
