Arkansas State Police releases preliminary report on Thursday accident that killed Greenwood High School student



The Arkansas State Police has released the preliminary report on the accident Thursday on US Highway 71 in Sebastian County that killed a Greenwood High School student.


According to a report posted by the ASP, Cadence Walters was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred just after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of US 71 and Palestine Road in Huntington.


The Walter's vehicle lost control and traveled into the southbound lane and was struck by a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by 58-year-old Darren Stovall of El Paso, Arkansas. Stovall, and 19-year-old Chloe Walters of Huntington, who was the driver of the Malibu, were both transported to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith for treatment of undetermined injuries.


Arkansas State Trooper Tucker Phelps, who responded to the accident, said the weather was rainy and road conditions were wet at the time of the crash.


The death of Cadence Walters pushes the list of fatalities for 2024 o Arkansas roads and highways to 555 according to information supplied by the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
