Arrest in Washington County ongoing sexual abuse case finds 38-year-old accused deviant in Pope County jail

A 36-year-old western Arkansas man was arrested in Washington County and transported back to Pope County on Tuesday to face a number of felony charges in a case involving child sexual abuse.

Joshua Allan Braham, who had been the subject of a warrant issued June 24th in Pope County, faces three felony charges including rape, sexual assault in the first degree, and sexually grooming case. It appears the original charges whre filled March 27, 2023

Although the 4th District prosecutor's office sealed the affidavit for warrant in order to protect the victim, Today in Fort Smith has been able to ascertain that the attack was on a child under the age of 14.

According to the warrant information the charges stem from grooming actions that started August 16, 2013 also list the date of December 16, 2022 through  December 16, 2023 under the grooming offense dates.

Rape is a Class  Y felony while Sexual Assault in the First Degree is classified as a Class A felony. Sexually Grooming a Child is classified as a Class D Felony.

No hometown is listed for Braham on any of the paperwork but a cursory examination of Arkansas Court Connect shows he was the defendant in a landlord/tenant disagreement in Washington County in 2022.

He was also involved in a child support case filed by the office of child support enforcement in Pope County which also occurred in 2022.

Those are all of his listings on Arkansas Court Connect other than two traffic tenant kits in 2016 in Faulkner County.
