ASP: Preliminary report details Sunday morning accident that claims 81-year-old Mena resident



A pickup truck crash near the ten-mile marker of US Highway 270 in Polk County on Sunday morning claimed the life of an 81 year old Mena man according to the Arkansas State Police.


 According to a preliminary report posted by the ASP on the Department of Public Safety website, 81-year-old Johnny McKee was westbound on US Highway 270 in a 2007 Ford F-150 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning.


The truck left the roadway and struck an embankment before coming to rest in the eastbound ditch. According to the report McKee was declared dead at the scene.


Investigating officer Corporal Mike D. Thomas of the Arkansas State Police noted rainy and wet conditions at the time of the accident which occurred in the city limits of Mena.
