Carroll County motorcycle wreck on Saturday proves fatal to Arkansas City. Kansas biker


A Kansas man died and his traveling companion was injured Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle accident that occurred on US Highway 62 west of Eureka Springs.


According to a preliminary accident report released on Monday by the Arkansas State Police, 47-year-old Bobbie J. Eastman of Arkansas City, Kansas died when the 2013 Harley Davidson he was piloting failed to negotiate a right-hand turn and ran off the roadway, striking a mailbox.


The Harley then struck a tree, disengaging Eastman and his passenger, 46-year-old Denise Cooper, also of Arkansas City. Eastman was transported to the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville where he died later that afternoon.


Cooper was also transported to the Fayetteville hospital in undetermined condition.


The accident occurred at 4:25 p.m. on the western edge of Eureka Springs.


According to the ASP preliminary report filed by Sgt. Chad Hipps of Troop D, the weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.
