Crash at McCurtain County intersection near Millerton proves fatal to 22-year-old woman



Police officials in southeastern Oklahoma say a Golden, Oklahoma woman was killed in an accident that occurred Saturday afternoon in Mccurtain County when another driver failed to yield at a stop sign.


According to the report from the Oklahoma Highway patrol, 22-year-old Bristina Colbert was driving a 2009 Dodge Journey on Highway 70 at the intersection with Tyler Road in rural McCurtain County when a southbound 2006 Ford f250 failed to yield at the stop sign. The truck struck the Dodge while turning onto the highway.


The driver of the pickup truck, 49-year-old Jerry McClure of Garvin, was flown to St Michael's Hospital in Texarkana with internal chest injuries.

The accident occurred near Millerton at 12:51 p.m. on Saturday.


There were no passengers in either vehicle, OHP said.


The circumstances and cause of the collision were under investigation, OHP reported.
