Director of nursing for local long term facility arrested for assaulting family member



A domestic dispute between a woman and her biological mother stemming from an argument in a Fort Smith residence saw a Fort Smith woman arrested and jailed on an Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member charge Sunday, according to information furnished by the Sebastian County Detention Center.


Stacey Renee Drewry of Fort Smith, who is the director of nursing for a Van Buren nursing facility, was booked into the SCDC at 9:06 p.m. after the argument in her home.


According to information obtained by Today and Fort Smith, the family was planning to go out to eat when an argument broke out. Drewry had her grandson in her arms and attempted to choke out her daughter, the child's m0ther, while telling her to "get out of her house".


Today in Fort Smith has so learned that Drewry is already serving a one year probation with the state of Arkansas after she was cited under the Nurse Practice Act, Sub Chapter 3, §17- 87-309 which includes disciplinary actions when a registered nurse (a)(1) “Is guilty of fraud or deceit in procuring or attempting to procure a license to practice nursing or engaged in the practice of nursing without a valid license;” (a)(2) “Is guilty of a crime or gross immorality;” (a) (4) “Is habitually intemperate or is addicted to the use of habit- forming drugs;” (a)(6) “Is guilty of unprofessional conduct;” and (a)(9) “Has willfully or repeatedly violated any of the provisions."


She is listed on the Arkansas Board of Nursing site as Stacey Renee Kennedy Drewry, L43231, Russellville A.C.A. § 17-87-309(a) (1),(4)&(6) with Probation of one year and a Civil Penalty of $500. Reportedly, the offense occurred last summer and involve "habit forming drugs and unprofessional conduct".


Drewry was released on Monday short;y before 1 p.m. on a $2500 legally sufficient bond and no court date has been set.
