Drug arrest nets felon with firearm seven more charges



Shortly after 4:00 PM Monday afternoon, Sequoyah County authorities booked an individual familiar with the local detention facility.


According to an arrest report, Sallisaw resident Gina Bynum was admitted for seven charges:

  • • CARRY OR POSSESS FIREARM BY CONVICTED FELON

  • • POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

  • • POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA

  • • POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

  • • UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A VEHICLE

  • • POSSESSION CDS WITHOUT TAX STAMP

  • • PUBLIC INTOXICATION

A spokesperson with the Sheriff's office stated Bynum's first court appearance would likely be Wednesday, however that date is not official.


Bynum has an extensive record in Sequoyah County including a dismissed Petit Larceny charge in June of 2014 and three separate charges for Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance in June, August and November of 2015, respectively,


In June of 2018, Bynum was arrested again on charges of Possession of Firearms after Conviction or Drug Probation, Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was sentenced to 1-10 years suspended on the first charge and 1 year suspended on counts two and three.


It's now June of 2020 and Bynum is understanding that June is just not her month.
