A 58-year-old Fort Smith resident, Marvin Davis, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder following the death of 65-year-old Dorothy Edmonds.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, March 16, 2025, when Fort Smith Police were called to a home in the 1500 block of South 11th Street at approximately 2:55 AM.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Edmonds deceased, with evident head trauma suggesting foul play. Authorities quickly launched an investigation, working over the next two days to piece together the circumstances surrounding her death.

By Tuesday, March 18, investigators identified Davis as a suspect. Following an interview that day, he was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.

Davis is currently being held at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond. Police have not released details about the relationship between Davis and Edmonds or the motive behind the alleged crime, stating that the investigation remains active.

As the case progresses, authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. The investigation continues, with updates expected as new developments emerge.
