Fort Smith police issues First Degree Murder warrant for suspect in July 9 shooting death

On Thursday July 15, detectives with the Fort Smith Police Department obtained a warrant for the arrest of Branford Lewis in the shooting death of 40-year-old Herbert Brown Jr. that occurred in the 900 block of Raleigh on Friday, July 9, 2021 Lewis is being charged with first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm. Lewis was arrested on Saturday July 10 on unrelated charges. The investigation is ongoing and police will release more information as it becomes available.

As of 7 p.m. on Thursday, no mugshot or warrant information on Lewis had been posted on the FSPD and or the Sebastian County- jail websites. Anyone with information about this case should contact the FSPD at 479-709-5100.
