HOT SPRINGS, AR – A 41-year-old man from Hot Springs was sentenced to 151 months--more than 12 years--in federal prison on Thursday for distributing methamphetamine.

The sentencing hearing took place at the United States District Court in Hot Springs, presided over by Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey.

Antwon Lakeith Burns was identified as a local drug dealer by the 18th East Judicial District Drug Task Force during narcotics investigations in the Hot Springs and Garland County area.

Court records reveal that on April 10, 2024, investigators conducted a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Burns. The substance, weighing 52.9 grams of pure methamphetamine, was analyzed and confirmed by the DEA crime lab.

Burns pleaded guilty on October 7, 2024, to distributing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, leading to his sentencing this week. U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes announced the outcome of the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Trent Daniels.

The investigation was a joint effort between the 18th Judicial District East Drug Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations Little Rock.

Related court documents are available for public viewing on the Public Access to Electronic Records website at www.pacer.gov.

The sentencing marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, authorities said. Burns will serve his sentence in federal prison, with no possibility of parole.
