Latest plea deal for ADC inmate adds ten more years to concurrent sentence bundle

A Van Buren man already behind bars for ten years for various felonies out of Crawford and Sebastian counties--and who is still on the hook on First Degree Murder charges in Sebastian County--received what was tantamount to a symbolic sentence Tuesday in Sebastian County Circuit Court.

Thirty-four year-old Branford Antwan Lewis , who is currently serving concurrent sentences for ten years in the East Arkansas Regional Unit in Brixkeys, saw another ten years added to those tacked sentences as well as an additional five years suspended on a Theft of Property plea dl conviction.

According to information from the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Lewis is already in prison for ten years for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia out of Sebastian County from a July plea as well as a six-year term for being a felon in possession of a firearm out of Crawford County in 2021.

He was returned to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center in June for court appearances. He is being housed in the Special Housing Unit at the SCADC at this time.

Lewis still faces a charge of first degree murder in the death of Herbert Brown, who was found by police dead in the driver's seat of a parked car that was still running after answering to a welfare check at Phoenix Village Apartments on July 9 of last year.

Brown had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

No current court date is listed in the murder case.
