Little Rock man dead after one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Pope County


The Arkansas State Police say a Little Rock Man is dead and two others were injured and sent to a local hospital in an accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Pope county.

According to information released Monday morning by the Arkansas State Police, 22-year-old Joshua Green of Little Rock was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla westbound on interstate 40 near the exit 94 ramp in Atkins when the vehicle ran off the roadway.


The Toyota apparently ran into the grassy area between interstate 40 and the off ramp and continue for a short distance through the tall grass before striking a tree.

Green was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pope County Coroner's Office. The two other victims in the crash, 27-year-old Maria Garza of Dardanelle and an unnamed minor ,were both transported to Little Rock for treatment. Garza was taken to UAMS while the minor was transported to the Arkansas Children's Hospital.


Trooper Trey Fales of the Arkansas State Police investigated the accident and noted clear weather conditions and a dry roadway at the time of the accident.


Green's death marks the 328th of the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
