Minor runs in from of automobile in Springdale Tuesday night resulting in fatality

The Springdale Police Department, Arkansas State Police, and the Arkansas Department of Public Safety has released limited information on a vehicle-pedestrian crash that took the life of a minor at 9:17 p.m. in Springdale on Tuesday.

The redacted report says a 2012 GMC Sierra was traveling northbound on Grainger Circle near the intersection of Apache Trail in Springdale when the victim ran out into the roadway and was struck by the automobile.

No other details on the accident have been released. Since the minor was not transported to an area hospital it is assumed that they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigating officer for the accident scene was patrolman Patrick Olcott of the Springdale Police Department. Officer Olcott said the weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.

The child's death marks the 264th roadway fatality of the Year reported to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
