Officials with the Arkansas state police said on Wednesday that a 29-year-old Fort Smith resident died in the early morning hours of February 11in a solo-vehicle accident near mile marker 41 in rural Washington County.
A preliminary accident report filed by that agency the Arkansas Department of Public Safety details the fatal accident which claimed 29-year-old Jose Albero Otero at 1:08 am Tuesday morning.
Police say Otero was a passenger in a 2015 Dodge Dart that was southbound on 49 when the vehicle exited the roadway to the right and struck a tree. The driver of the Dart a unspecified in the report.
The fatality was the 48th of the year reported in Arkansas.
