Police officials in Pope County say a 30-year-old man currently residing in Russellville was arrested Tuesday on one count of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree by the Russellville Police department.
According to booking information from the Pope County Detention center, Michael Todd Angel, who has a long and varied rap sheet across a number of central and southern counties in Arkansas, was arrested at 5:53 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on the charge.
Sexual Assault in the Second Degree in the state of Arkansas covers a variety of crimes. It generally applies if the perpetrator engages in sexual contact with another person by forceful compulsion or someone who is incapable of consent. The most common occurrence is when someone over the age of 18 engages and sexual contact with someone under the age of 14.
Angel has a long and storied past with arrests dating back to 2016 for aggravated assault, drug-related crimes, and a plethora of moving violations, mainly in Clark County. He has also been the defendant in at least one case where a female victim sought an order of protection against him...
Angel remains in the Pope County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash bond. His original trial date has been set for August 8th in the case.
