Springdale police charge 19-year-old with two felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident



The Springdale Police Department made an arrest in a hit-and-run accident that killed an unknown pedestrian in Springdale Tuesday night.


According to a preliminary incident report furnished by Springdale Police department, Kelvin Miliani Saenz 19 was arrested after being interviewed by the Springdale Police department the night of the accident. After the interview by the criminal investigation division, Sanez was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an injury accident.


No info9rmation was available on other possible pending charges.


The pedestrian was killed and a Fayetteville woman was injured after a 2013 BMW 3 Series struck both victims who were crossing US Highway 71B/South Thompson Street outside the confines of a crosswalk on Tuesday night in Springdale.


According the information released by the Springdale Police Department the Saenz vehicle was traveling northbound on 71B at approximately 9:46 p.m. Tuesday night. Both pedestrians were crossing the highway at the corner of Hembree Street. The BMW was in an outside lane and video clearly shows that both pedestrians crossed the intersection without utilizing a crosswalk.


Police say Saenz fled he scene but turned himself into authorities later the same night.


The male pedestrian, whose identity has not been determined as of yet, died at the scene. The female victim was identified as 29-year-old Denise Salcedo of Fayetteville. Salcedo was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville where she was listed in critical condition, according to the Springdale incident report.
