FORT SMITH, AR – An area woman is taking legal action against an individual operating under the alias “Mike Hendricks,” a notorious online figure accused of harassing, defaming, and cyberstalking multiple individuals across social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit.

The citizen, who has chosen to remain anonymous for now, has officially had her attorney prepare a lawsuit to uncover the real identity of the person behind the account—and she’s not stopping there.

Using a "Jane Doe" lawsuit, the plaintiff aims to leverage the legal system to unmask not only "Mike Hendricks" but also several others who have engaged in a coordinated online campaign of harassment.

Her case could set a precedent for victims of internet defamation and cyberbullying, proving that hiding behind a screen does not guarantee anonymity forever.

A Jane Doe (or John Doe) lawsuit is a legal tool that allows a plaintiff to sue an unidentified defendant, using placeholder names until the true identity can be revealed. In cases involving anonymous online harassment, these lawsuits are often filed to compel social media platforms, internet service providers, or other tech companies to provide identifying information about the person behind the account in question.

Once a judge grants the subpoena request, platforms such as Meta (Facebook), X (formerly Twitter), and Reddit may be legally required to turn over IP addresses, email accounts, and other identifying details that can be traced back to the real person responsible.

The plaintiff, who has spoken exclusively with Today in Fort Smith, alleges that "Mike Hendricks" and his associates have used multiple social media accounts to spread false information, threaten individuals, and engage in harassment campaigns against private citizens.

According to our review of the initial documents to be filed in court, "Mike Hendricks" has been active across various platforms, frequently targeting individuals with inflammatory accusations and defamatory claims. The lawsuit seeks to uncover his true identity, hold him accountable for any damages caused, and potentially pursue further legal action against those involved in the harassment.

“This kind of online abuse cannot continue unchecked,” the plaintiff told Today in Fort Smith. “People think they can hide behind fake profiles and say whatever they want without consequences. This lawsuit is about taking a stand, not just for myself but for everyone who has been targeted by online bullies and stalkers.”

Online anonymity has long been a double-edged sword. While it allows for free expression and privacy, it also provides cover for bad actors engaging in cyberstalking, harassment, and defamation. Lawsuits like this one are becoming more common as victims seek justice against those using fake accounts to attack others.

Legal experts say that if successful, this lawsuit could open the door for others to follow suit, sending a clear message that online harassment will not be tolerated.

As this case unfolds, Today in Fort Smith will be providing exclusive updates, court filings, and interviews with key players in the lawsuit. We will follow every step of this legal battle as the plaintiff seeks to unmask “Mike Hendricks” and expose other anonymous harassers operating online.

This case could be a game-changer in the fight against cyber harassment, proving that no one is truly anonymous when the law is involved. Stay tuned for ongoing coverage.
