Two year "sentence" another victory for Sebastian County prosecutor in pillow fight war on crime

A 43-year-old Fort Smith woman who's been arrested seven times in Sebastian County since 2018 on a number of misdemeanor and felony charges was sentenced to two years with an additional four-years suspended Wednesday in Sebastian County Circuit Court according to information from Arkansas Court Connect.

Melissa Sueann Montgomery, whose residence is listed in the 1500 block of North North 34th Street in Fort Smith, drewthe 24-month jail term after a plea deal on possession of controlled substance/meth or cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia charges stemming from an arrest in March of this year.

A petition to revoke had been issued against Montgomery on March 9 2023 and she was arrested at that time and in-and-out of jail in just a little over 5 hours. That petition to revoke came about because of her arrest on the drugs charges she was sentenced for this week.

Montgomery had also spent time in the South Sebastian County adult Detention Center in March of 2022 for endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and willful contempt for failure to make payments on fines. She also had been arrested twice back in 2019 on failure to pay fine charges.

Booking information from Sebastian County shows in December of 2018, Montgomery was arrested on three counts of misdemeanor and felony possession of controlled substances. At that time she was given 72 months of supervised probation and had another 12 months suspended sentence for her drug crimes.

She awaits transfer to the Arkansas deprtment of Corrections in the SCADC.
