Westfield, Ok man dies after motorcycle hits car on County Line Road in Springdale



The Arkansas Department of Public Safety in conjunction with the Springdale Police Department released information Tuesday morning on a Monday accident in Washington County that took the life of a Westfield, Oklahoma man. According to a preliminary accident report from the Springdale Police department, 35-year-old Heath R. Welch of Westfield was the driver of a 1998 Honda motorcycle that was eastbound on County Line road at the intersection with Lowell Road in Springdale at 6:32 a.m. Monday morning. A 2017 Chrysler, driven by an unidentified driver, was eastbound on the same roadway and turn left into the path of the motorcycle. The Honda struck the passenger side of the car throwing Welch from the bike, which came to rest at the east side of the intersection. Welch was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville where he later succumbed to his injuries. According to the report, responding officers noted cloudy and rainy weather conditions and a wet roadway at the time of the accident. Welch's death represents the 332nd fatality of the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
